Since v1.20.2, attempting to play as either Spade or Torque will result in the game restarting, thus also locking access to Horizon Starport and Warp Sector due to the fact that the game forces Torque as a playble character on them.Ī leftover from early prototypes. Mostly bug fixes and added graphical polish. The game's fundraiser and launch were successful, the reception positive - Freedom Planet was praised for its unique mix of Sonic and other retro game elements.įor an elaboration on the term frame in the context of this game, see "Frames". Originally planned as a Sonic the Hedgehog fan game, game developer Strife quickly changed her mind and turned the game into her own original property. Stories with a side of cheese also leave a lot of interesting concepts to think about behind, be it intentional or not. This game has unused playable characters.įreedom Planet is a 2D platformer about a trio of female anthropomorphic animals on a mission to save their planet from an evil warlord. Frankly this is what I like about Lilac and Brevon's character, aside from being the best voiced in my opinion, I also think as them as basically the best written as well, they're not your typical "Hero and Villain", there is at least some nuance to their characters. Thermal Base was basically a reality check for Lilac, the world is not black and white but in shades of grey everyone is the hero in their own story Brevon himself has his reasons for his actions. What's even more ironic is that some deleted scenes (and even some scenes from the final product) paints Lilac as fairly manipulative and selfish. Her obsession towards stereotypical heroism putting her friends in harms way, getting involved into something obviously bigger than her, and eventually penalized (in the form of excrutiating torture) for her white knight attitude. A former criminal (though at the start of the game, they were planning to steal from the nobility at Relic Maze), who constantly tries to bury the past to the point of going by her surname, believing that "heroic" acts will make up for her previous short commings.
